Doobies Were Fantastic, But In-House Video Was Terrible
The Doobie Brothers were fantastic, with perfect harmonies and excellent instrumental talent, and plenty of energy for a bunch of "old guys" like me. Having Michael McDonald back was the best. They played nearly all their hits for over two hours, although they started late, which I'm not fond of. My only complaints were with the amphitheater. First off, my seat in Section 202, Row 11, Seat 8 was busted. The seat part was slanted downward, so for the entire concert, I felt like I was gonna slide out onto the floor. I've emailed them to please fix it. The in-house video was horrendous! For Michael McDonald's first vocal lead, the video focused entirely on the two front men, Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons. And stuff like that continued through the entire concert. For God's sake, hire someone who knows or studies the bands in advance, so they're focusing on the right people. No TV show or DVD producer could have ever used that video because it was so poorly executed. These are the only things keeping me from giving it a 5-star review.
